Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania’s main challenge remains integration into the European Union. He stressed that the country must move to a new level of economic and social development.
Speaking at the 35th anniversary celebration of the Socialist Party in Elbasan, Rama said Albania is closer than ever to achieving a historic goal. He urged citizens not to waste the country’s time or miss new opportunities. He added that Albania had lost important chances in the past and should not repeat those mistakes.
Furthermore, Rama described EU membership as a century-long dream of the Albanian people. He said the country is now closer than ever to making that dream a reality. According to him, Albania’s future is linked to Europe and Western values.
He also emphasized that EU integration is more than a political objective. It is a process that will transform Albanian society and the economy. Therefore, he called on current generations to carry forward the vision of the country’s national revival figures.
In addition, Rama said Albania is at a decisive moment in its development. He noted that the country has a real opportunity to move closer to European standards and accelerate progress.
During his speech, Rama praised the history of the Socialist Party and the contribution of its members over the years. He also thanked supporters for their presence and paid tribute to former Elbasan mayor Qazim Sejdini for his role in strengthening the party.
Meanwhile, Rama acknowledged that the Socialist Party’s journey had not been easy. He recalled the challenges of the early years of pluralism, when many party members faced personal, family, and professional difficulties because of their political beliefs.
In conclusion, Rama said Albania stands at a historic crossroads. He urged the country not to lose any more opportunities and to continue its path toward European Union membership.
