Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a video from Brussels after Albania closed its first three EU accession negotiation chapters, describing the moment as the start of a new phase in the negotiation process.
Rama said the talks are moving forward and rejected claims that the negotiations had stalled.
“Some said the process was over and there would be no more negotiations. But the opposite happened. We not only continued negotiations, but we also closed the first three chapters. The countdown to closing the remaining chapters has begun,” Rama said.
He added that the government aims to complete all negotiation chapters by 2027.
“Whether some people like it or not, we will close all chapters by 2027,” the Prime Minister stated.
The closure of the first three chapters marks another important step in Albania’s EU integration path, as the country continues working to meet the membership criteria and advance its accession process.
