Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced from Luxembourg that Albania will close another chapter today as part of its negotiations for accession to the European Union. The head of government expressed optimism about the progress of the process, emphasizing that the goal is to close as many chapters as possible by the end of this year.
Speaking to the media, Rama said that Albania’s progress towards EU membership is unstoppable. He also revealed that he had held several meetings which, according to him, were encouraging for the next steps in the process.
“We are back to close another chapter and to reaffirm that progress towards our historic goal is unstoppable. Meanwhile, I have just held several encouraging meetings regarding what comes next. Our plans for this year are ambitious,” the Prime Minister said.
Rama stressed that the Albanian government aims to make further progress in the negotiations and that Albania will fully comply with the established deadlines.
“We aim to close even more chapters, and I am absolutely convinced that, as far as our side is concerned, we will fully meet the deadlines at every step. I would not give an exact number of chapters to be closed, but today we will close another one, bringing the total to four. At least twice as many more remain, and that is expected to be the figure, at least for this year, but let’s see,” Rama concluded.
