Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted the “Plis” guesthouse in the Valbona Valley as an example of sustainable mountain tourism.
Rama said the guesthouse preserves the spirit of traditional Alpine homes while meeting modern standards. He described it as an ideal place to enjoy fresh air, cool weather, and the natural beauty of the Albanian Alps.
“Plis” offers an authentic experience in the mountains of Tropoja. Visitors find local organic food and the quiet of untouched nature. The area has seen a strong rise in domestic and foreign tourists in recent years, leading to the opening of new guesthouses.
Rama said support for mountain areas has increased through the Mountains Package. The initiative aims to boost economic development and strengthen sustainable living in remote regions.
He added that such projects promote local tourism, create jobs, and help young people remain in their communities. The investment, he said, shows that support for farmers and rural entrepreneurs can drive sustainable development in Albania’s mountain areas.
