Prime Minister Edi Rama has highlighted Malësia e Madhe and Përmet as examples of Albania’s transformation over the past decade, reflecting on the changing image and potential of these two areas in the latest episode of his “Flasim” podcast.
According to Rama, a decade ago, both areas were perceived as remote places with little reason to visit, where residents remained largely because of family circumstances rather than opportunities for a better future.
The Prime Minister also recalled his experiences before taking office, when his previous commitments took him across Albania. He said that at the time, Malësia e Madhe and Përmet seemed like places without hope, whereas today he sees them as part of a different reality.
Referring to the protests on the boulevard outside the Prime Minister’s Office, Rama argued that developments on the ground are not necessarily reflected in public debate. According to him, social media and television create a different perception of the country.
“Today, they are two destinations in the new Albania, the different Albania that we have built with great effort, while from the boulevard in Tirana, much of this is obscured by the artificial clouds created by social media platforms and television screens,” Rama said.
