Rama on Serbian Minister’s Remarks: We Won’t Become a Hysterical Chorus Every Time Someone in Belgrade Talks Nonsense

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on X to the recent remarks made by Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunović regarding the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo, saying the Albanian government had already responded through the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Rama said Albania would not become “a hysterical chorus” every time “some fool in Belgrade starts talking nonsense,” adding that anyone expecting such a reaction was “looking in the wrong place.” He also described the minister’s comments as idiotic and said they reflected poorly on both herself and her country.

“The idea that every public figure, every institution, and every authority must react to every idiotic statement made in Serbian—even by individuals whose existence was known only to their own families before making such remarks—shows how little those demanding these reactions respect themselves and their country.

We have responded through our Foreign Minister, just as any self-respecting state would. Anyone expecting us to become a hysterical chorus every time some fool in Belgrade starts talking nonsense has come to the wrong address.

Just look at some of the reactions coming from Tirana. The way certain people seize on a dead horse to pose as warriors on the front line makes it immediately clear why they deserve nothing more than sympathy. And if you want a good laugh, you only need to take the time to read what they write,” Rama wrote.
