Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting this Friday with Socialist Party members from Unit No. 3 in Tirana. During his speech, Rama emphasized that the ruling majority has already begun groundwork to secure an even deeper victory in the upcoming elections, while mocking the opposition, saying that despite their statements, they are not active on the ground and are instead “hanging out in cafés.”
“This process is linked to the start of work for the next elections. Where are they? At this hour? Are they sleeping? Luli maybe is, but what about the others? They’re in cafés or at home. They’re not holding meetings. Then they complain about ‘patronage networks.’ What patronage networks? You are them,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister also praised the results of the last elections, noting that the Socialist Party saw growth in 10 out of the country’s 12 regions, and that for the first time Albanians have had a real opportunity on the path toward European integration.
“Albanians have never had such an opportunity as they do now. Now they believe in it and they want it, and we have gained respect and trust. Let’s make the most of this moment while the door is open,” Rama stated.
He added that the integration process is not only symbolic, but will also improve citizens’ everyday lives, mentioning lower university fees and stronger democratic guarantees in the country.
Rama also highlighted the beginning of pension system increases and underlined the importance of active participation by Socialist Party members in meetings and grassroots activities as part of preparations for the upcoming local elections.
