Prime Minister Edi Rama said that supporting the Socialist Party means supporting Albania’s integration into the European Union, while warning that there are political forces opposing this process.
Speaking at a party event in Tirana, Rama said the Socialist Party’s mission is to bring Albania into the “crown of Europe,” adding that EU membership remains its central objective.
Furthermore, he urged citizens to remain focused on the country’s European future and not be influenced by what he described as actors who do not understand or support this goal. He said political disagreements should not distract from the national objective of EU integration.
In addition, Rama emphasized that the path toward the European Union is not easy, but stressed that it does not require sacrifices such as those seen in war. Instead, he said it requires commitment and political focus on long-term goals.
Moreover, he warned that there are forces both inside and outside the country that do not support Albania’s EU membership bid. According to him, even small setbacks could benefit those opposing integration.
Finally, Rama compared the EU accession process to swimming toward the horizon, saying the country must remain focused and determined as it approaches the final stages of its European journey.
