TIRANA, August 25 – The number of foreigners holding residence permits in Albania reached 32,163 at the end of 2025, according to data from the Institute of Statistics. The figure increased by 46.6% from 2024. Men accounted for 65% and women for 35%, while people aged 30–39 represented the largest age group at 24.5%.
Europeans accounted for 17,022 residents, or 52.9% of the total, marking an 18.5% increase from 2024. The number of Asian residents reached 9,891, up 117.6%, while residents from the Americas, Africa and Oceania reached 5,250, an increase of 73.4%.
Applications for residence permits also increased by 43.5% in 2025. Citizens of India and the Philippines accounted for 26.6% of applications. Authorities also identified 1,926 irregular foreigners, compared with 1,540 in 2024.
Citizens of Kosova and Italy represented the largest groups among foreign residents, at 19.5% and 12.6%, respectively. India accounted for 9% and the Philippines for 7.5%, with increases of 87.6% and 136.1%, respectively.
