Sazan-Karaburun remains a top summer destination

TIRANA, August 4-Albania’s only national marine park, Sazan-Karaburun, continues to attract large numbers of local and foreign tourists this summer.

The park’s crystal-clear waters, rich biodiversity, and natural beauty draw hundreds of visitors every day. Many explore the area on tourist boats and other vessels departing from the Port of Vlora.

According to Lorenc Rexhepaj, Captain of the Port of Vlora, 16,466 tourists visited the park in June and July. Tourist boats made 270 trips during the same period.

In June alone, 7,801 tourists visited the park, while operators carried out 148 boat trips.

This year, smaller vessels have also expanded the tourist offer. Operators now provide customized tours and more flexible schedules. As a result, visitors can explore the Karaburun Peninsula, Sazan Island, Grama Bay, Dafina Bay, Haxhi Ali Cave, and Dafina Cave more easily.

Meanwhile, the Port Captaincy continues to monitor vessels and enforce safety rules. Authorities have urged operators and tourists to respect navigation and environmental regulations to protect the park’s unique ecosystem.

Sazan-Karaburun also serves as an important corridor for sea turtles, Mediterranean monk seals, dolphins, and sharks.

Declared a national marine park in 2010, Karaburun-Sazan remains Albania’s only national marine park and one of the country’s most popular summer destinations.
