Albania continues to attract growing numbers of visitors through cruise tourism, with the Port of Saranda remaining one of the country’s main gateways for foreign tourists during the summer season.
The Port of Saranda welcomed the cruise ship Seabourn Quest today, carrying 467 passengers who chose to explore the Albanian Riviera and the historical and cultural attractions of southern Albania.
According to the Albanian Customs Administration, the Saranda Customs Branch continues to manage the high volume of cruise ships and tourists efficiently and professionally. Customs officers ensure fast and secure procedures in line with international standards.
Director General of Customs Besmir Beja praised the work of customs structures during the tourist season. He emphasized that simplifying border procedures plays an important role in improving the experience of visitors arriving in Albania.
“The customs administration remains committed to providing high-quality and efficient services, ensuring the rapid processing of travelers and vehicles at the country’s entry points, while supporting tourism and economic development,” Beja said.
The growing number of cruise ships calling at the Port of Saranda highlights increasing international interest in Albania as a Mediterranean tourism destination. Each cruise arrival brings hundreds of visitors who explore cultural heritage sites, beaches, local businesses and tourism services, generating income for the local economy.
In recent years, Saranda has emerged as one of Albania’s most sought-after maritime tourism destinations. Its strategic location, proximity to Corfu and rich natural and cultural attractions continue to draw international visitors.
The strong flow of cruise ships during the summer months is expected to boost the tourism season further and strengthen Albania’s position as an increasingly competitive destination in the international tourism market.
