Sejko and Malaj meet new IMF mission chief for Albania, Diego Cerdeiro

Bank of Albania Governor Gent Sejko and Finance Minister Petrit Malaj met with the new IMF mission chief for Albania, Diego Cerdeiro. The meeting took place during the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington.

Sejko and Malaj presented an overview of Albania’s latest economic and financial situation. They also shared projections for future developments.

They said the Albanian economy continues to grow steadily. They pointed to a strong labor market, low inflation, and a sound financial system.

However, they warned that global uncertainties remain a risk factor. They highlighted developments in the Middle East as a source of concern that requires close monitoring.

They stressed the importance of careful macroeconomic policies. They said these policies have helped maintain price stability, strengthen financial resilience, and gradually reduce public debt.

They also said monetary policy will remain focused on price stability. It will continue to respond to economic developments and risks in international markets.
