TIRANA, August 19 – Wildfires remain active in the forests of Mount Tërbuni and the Gjegjan-Gojan area in Puka Municipality, Shkodër County. The county authorities said the situation on Mount Tërbuni is under control. However, firefighters continue to battle the flames in Gjegjan-Gojan, where high temperatures and strong winds have helped the fire spread.
Two fire engines from Puka and Fusha-Arrëz municipalities are operating in the area. Firefighters from both municipalities have also joined the operation. In addition, 40 Armed Forces personnel, local administration workers, residents and volunteers are supporting the efforts.
Meanwhile, 2 helicopters are providing aerial support in areas where difficult terrain limits access from the ground. Authorities currently report no critical threat to homes.
The Prefecture of Shkodër continues to monitor the situation and coordinate all structures and resources involved in the operation. The authorities said they are working to protect residents and homes until the situation returns to normal.
