Six-month indicators confirm continued economic stability

TIRANA, August 17 – Albania’s main economic indicators for the first half of 2026 confirm continued economic stability, Deputy Finance Minister Endrit Yzeiraj said.

In a video message, Yzeiraj said macroeconomic stability remains the foundation for the country’s short-term and long-term economic and policy objectives. He said economic growth has remained stable and in line with government targets. Inflation has also remained low and controlled, helping protect purchasing power and provide greater market predictability.

Meanwhile, Yzeiraj highlighted a decline in the cost of public debt. He said borrowing costs were comparable to, or lower than, those in other countries in the region.

Economic activity continued to expand at a steady pace during the first half of 2026. Growth reached 3.7% in the first quarter, while available indicators point to continued growth in the second quarter.

The expansion reflected stronger consumption, investment and services exports. Higher incomes, improved expectations, increased tourism revenues and favourable financing conditions supported the trend.

Yzeiraj said European Union integration remains the government’s first strategic objective. He added that improving access to finance for small and medium-sized businesses and maintaining macroeconomic stability are two other key priorities.
