Director General of the Albanian State Police, Skender Hita, attended the European Police Chiefs Convention (EPCC).
Ahead of the conference, Director Hita was received in a separate meeting by Europol’s Acting Executive Director, Jürgen Ebner.
Also present at the meeting was the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Artur Kuko.
Europol’s Acting Executive Director, Mr. Ebner, congratulated Director Hita on his appointment and welcomed the determination he has demonstrated in recent months to deepen cooperation with law enforcement agencies and international partners.
He underlined the importance of cooperation with the Albanian State Police as a key partner in the Western Balkans and praised the work and commitment of Albania’s Liaison Office at Europol. He also highlighted the strengthening of operational cooperation, reflected in the increased exchange of information, joint investigations and participation in Europol and EMPACT mechanisms.
Mr. Ebner stressed that these results have been achieved thanks to the professionalism and growing credibility of the Albanian State Police, positioning Albania on an equal footing with its European counterparts in terms of cooperation and trust.
Director Hita thanked Mr. Ebner for the welcome, recognition and confidence that Europol has shown in the Albanian State Police. He emphasized that Europol’s support through expertise, logistical resources, timely information exchange, joint investigations and operations is essential and serves their common goal of combating organized crime without compromise.
“I want to assure you that my vision for leading the State Police is clear and well-defined: close and barrier-free cooperation with law enforcement agencies both at home and abroad, as well as with partner police forces, while making a meaningful contribution to European security.
“We are fighting modern-day crime, where technology, just as it serves us, also serves criminals, while crime itself is becoming increasingly globalized. Therefore, strengthening professional and operational capacities and working with our partners without barriers is extremely important.
“This is the right way to succeed in our mission. I thank you for your hospitality and wish the European Police Chiefs Convention every success, as it is an event of multidimensional importance in the interest of the rule of law,” Hita said.
