“Social security agreement with Slovenia approved,” Minister Ibrahimaj says four more agreements are under negotiation

Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj announced on Wednesday, following the government meeting, that the draft decision on the social security agreement with Slovenia had been approved in principle.

The minister said that, under the new agreement, years of social security contributions will also be recognised by Slovenia. Ibrahimaj also revealed that four additional agreements are currently being negotiated.

“Today, the Ministry of Economy submitted a draft decision for the approval in principle of the social security agreement with Slovenia, bringing the total number of agreements signed by the Republic of Albania to 17. Including the agreement with Slovenia, 11 of these agreements have been signed with European Union member states.

Four other agreements are currently under negotiation. I would like to recall that this is a policy that began several years ago and has since been intensified by the Albanian government, as it is essential for protecting employment rights, as well as the entitlements and payments that individuals may receive in the future after working for several years in the Republic of Albania and several years in another country. This has been a long-standing issue,” she said.
