TIRANA, April 15 – Albanian Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi met North Macedonian Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi on Wednesday for talks focused on bilateral parliamentary cooperation and European integration.
Both officials reviewed relations between Albania and North Macedonia. They described ties as friendly and stable. In addition, they stressed the need to strengthen institutional contacts between the two parliaments. They said closer exchanges would support political coordination.
The discussion also covered the position of ethnic Albanians in North Macedonia. Both sides linked the issue to regional stability and democratic development. At the same time, they addressed the broader EU integration process in the Western Balkans.
Peleshi said Albania’s progress toward EU membership sends a positive signal to the region. He presented the accession process as an incentive for neighbouring countries pursuing the same path. Meanwhile, both speakers underlined the importance of continued dialogue between institutions.
Furthermore, they reaffirmed commitment to deeper parliamentary cooperation. They said such engagement can support reforms and strengthen regional stability. They also emphasized that coordinated efforts may help accelerate EU integration across the Western Balkans.
