TIRANA, July 9 – Albania is at a decisive moment for its European future, State Minister for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Adea Pirdeni said.
Speaking at the closing event of Public Administration Week, Pirdeni highlighted the importance of strengthening institutions and consolidating the rule of law. She said the EU integration process offers Albania an opportunity to build stronger public institutions.
The minister said accession is not only a negotiation process. According to her, it is also an opportunity to strengthen state structures and make them more resilient against risks, including the abuse of public office.
Meanwhile, Pirdeni said the government has launched a dialogue initiative to address the challenges facing public administration during the integration process. She added that the fight against corruption remains a key priority.
“The public administration reform is the reform above all reforms,” Pirdeni said. She explained that changes in the way administration works directly affect all areas of governance.
Pirdeni noted that Albania has reached an advanced stage of public administration reform. She said the country now has a clear strategy, a modern recruitment system and improved career development mechanisms for civil servants.
However, the minister stressed that further measures remain necessary. She said the administration must become more open to new professionals and better prepared for EU negotiations and future membership responsibilities.
