TIRANA, August 6 – The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy continued work during the first seven months of 2026 on strategic projects in roads, energy, water supply and transport. The investments aim to improve public services, strengthen energy security and support economic development.
Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi shared updates on several major projects, saying teams continue work at construction sites across the country to complete ongoing investments.
Road infrastructure remains a priority. The ministry is expanding the Tirana–Durrës highway with additional lanes to ease traffic and improve safety on one of Albania’s busiest routes. Authorities also selected the winning company for the Milot–Balldren road project, paving the way for another major infrastructure investment. During this period, the country opened the new Vrioni Bridge, while teams continued work on the Koman Road, Pan-European Transport Corridor VIII, the Tirana Bypass and the Saranda Bypass.
In addition, the ministry completed the new Elbasan water supply system to improve services for residents. It also increased energy capacities at the Elbasan 3 and Tirana 3 substations and started construction of a new substation in Kamza.
Meanwhile, Albania continued efforts to develop Vlora as an energy hub. The country also expanded transport links with the first Albania–Canada transatlantic flight, while the Port of Durrës improved services ahead of the tourist season.
The ministry said these investments support infrastructure modernization and economic, tourism and energy development.
