Strengthened Alliance Between the State Police and Europol to Crack Down on High-Risk Criminal Groups

The newly appointed Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, held his first meeting with international partners, specifically a delegation from the European Serious and Organised Crime Centre (ESOCC) at Europol.

According to a press release, the delegation was led by Andy Kraag, Head of the Centre for Combating Organised and Serious Crime at Europol, accompanied by the Head of Unit for the Analytical Project HROCG – High-Risk Criminal Groups, as well as the Deputy Head of the Unit involved in this project.

“During the meeting, Director Hita and Kraag գնահատed the strong relationship between the State Police and Europol, emphasizing the importance of further strengthening cooperation.

Director Hita assured the delegation representatives of his and the State Police’s commitment and determination to deepen this cooperation. He stressed that only through close and barrier-free collaboration can concrete results be achieved in the fight against organized crime.

Discussions also focused on the importance of implementing the new State Police strategy against organized crime for 2026–2028, as well as the Analytical Project HROCG, which includes the identification, profiling, and tracking of the most dangerous criminal groups at the international level, the analysis of criminal networks, intelligence sharing, and the coordination of joint operations to dismantle them,” the statement said.

The project aims to enhance investigative and operational capacities, as well as to ensure coordinated intervention against cross-border criminal activities.
