President Bajram Begaj congratulated Albanian weightlifter Briken Calja today after his gold-medal performance at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games.
Begaj praised Calja’s achievement and highlighted his new Mediterranean record.
“Congratulations, Briken! Albania is proud of you,” Begaj wrote in his message.
He also described the achievement as “a new record that makes us proud.” Calja won gold in the snatch in the 75 kg category at the 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games.
Meanwhile, his victory adds another major success to Albania’s weightlifting campaign at Taranto 2026. With Calja’s latest result, Albania has collected six medals so far.
The country has won two gold medals through Islam Dudaev and Briken Calja, one silver through Zelimkhan Abakarov, and three bronze medals through Ardit Zeneli, Briken Calja, and Enkileda Carja.
