A joint task force made up of representatives from the National Coastline Agency, the Municipality of Pogradec, and the State Police carried out inspections along Pogradec’s lakeshore this Friday to monitor compliance with beach station permits and ensure that designated public beach areas remain accessible.
Shpëtim Çiku, Director of the National Coastline Agency, said that no violations or irregularities were identified during the inspections. He added that checks will continue throughout the tourist season to prevent the illegal occupation of beach areas and to ensure operators comply with the conditions set out in their approved permits.
This summer, more than 60% of Pogradec’s lakeshore has been allocated for public beaches, while around 40% has been designated for private beach stations. Authorities also confirmed that weekly inspections will continue to ensure the proper division of beach areas and prevent any misuse by tourism operators.
In addition to verifying compliance with beach station permits, inspectors also checked the implementation of safety measures, including the presence of certified lifeguards, the installation of water safety signage, the placement of buoys marking restricted zones for watercraft, and the designation of swimming depth areas, all aimed at ensuring the safety of visitors throughout the summer season.
