Technical Problem in Albanian Airspace, 90% of Systems Restored

A technical malfunction caused air traffic control systems to shut down at 5:30 p.m. today, creating an emergency situation in Albanian airspace, Albcontrol announced to the media on Friday.

According to the statement, immediately after the incident, Albcontrol experts took all necessary measures in accordance with established protocols to ensure the full safety of aircraft in flight and prevent any potential risks.

Thanks to the swift response and professional intervention of technical staff, around 90% of the main systems were restored by approximately 6:00 p.m.

The timely and professional response made it possible to prevent a disruption of air traffic in Albanian airspace.

“Today at 5:30 p.m., air traffic systems shut down due to a technical problem. Albcontrol experts took all necessary measures to prevent any risk to aircraft in Albanian airspace and immediately began working to restore the systems.

By around 6:00 p.m., 90% of the systems had been restored to normal operation, while work is continuing to recover the remaining systems.

Thanks to the timely and professional response, a disruption of air traffic in our airspace was successfully avoided.”
