The Pogradec Art Gallery has opened an exhibition by renowned Albanian painter Anastas Kostandini, known as Taso, titled “The Drunken City”.
The exhibition presents 45 pastel works that capture the identity, memories and spirit of Pogradec. It will remain open to art lovers until the end of July.
Kostandini, one of the most representative figures of contemporary Albanian art, has transformed his hometown into a unique artistic universe where reality and imagination come together.
His cycle “Poradeci Drinks Wine and Raki” explores local traditions, hospitality, family memories and community life. Through his paintings, old wine cellars become spaces where history, imagination and everyday life meet.
Art historian and curator Ylli Drishti described the 45 selected pastels as a tribute to Pogradec and a demonstration of how art can transform local memories into a universal experience.
He said Kostandini’s work elevates the story of a city into a broader artistic language and gives the painter a special place in contemporary Albanian art history.
