TIRANA, August 17 – Tirana International Airport processed nearly 1.65 million passengers in July, setting another record for air traffic. The airport recorded 28.1% more passengers than in July 2025, while annual growth reached 19.4%.
A further record came on July 27. The airport handled 58,805 passengers on 329 commercial flights in a single day. July’s traffic also exceeded pre-pandemic levels. During the month, the airport handled about half the number of passengers it recorded throughout 2019.
Meanwhile, the airport said the higher traffic has placed considerable pressure on staff and airport operations, particularly during the summer heat.
The Airports Council International for Europe has also highlighted Tirana’s growth. In its April 2026 airport traffic report, the organization ranked Tirana as the fastest-growing airport among large airports that month.
