The Albanian iso-polyphony group from the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances (TKOBAP) performed at the Piccolo Opera Festival 2026 in Italy. As a result, Albanian traditional music reached an international audience.
The group presented Albania’s rich iso-polyphonic heritage, which is recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. In addition, the concert featured traditional songs such as “Vajzë e valave,” “Tundu bejk e bardhë,” “Atje te ura mbi lumë,” and “Janinës ç’i panë sytë.”
The performance took place at the Church of Santo Stefano Protomartire in Giassico, Cormòns. Moreover, organizers and the Brazzano parish supported the realization of the event.
The audience received the concert positively. Therefore, the event highlighted the importance of Albanian musical tradition on an international stage.
Furthermore, the festival continues until July 5 under the theme “Libertà” (Freedom). It features opera performances, new artistic projects, and shows in castles, open-air theaters, and historic venues across Gorizia, Nova Gorica, Trieste, and surrounding areas.
Overall, organizers aim to connect art with cultural spaces across the region. Meanwhile, the Albanian performance contributed to promoting cultural exchange and showcasing the uniqueness of iso-polyphony worldwide.
