TIRANA, April 27 – Albania recorded a strong increase in tourist and passenger flows in March 2026, with total entries reaching 1,289,468 people, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).
The figure marks an 11.7% rise compared with the same month in 2025. Authorities said the growth reflects sustained mobility across both Albanian citizens and foreign visitors during the spring period.
INSTAT data showed 680,105 Albanian citizens entered the country in March, up 12.5% year-on-year. It also recorded 609,363 foreign visitors, an increase of 10.8% compared with March 2025.
Meanwhile, exits from the country reached 1,282,702 people, up 8.5%. Officials said most movements related to personal travel and transit journeys.
Europe remained the main source of foreign visitors. Southern Europe accounted for around 80% of arrivals from the continent, while Western Europe contributed 7%.
Over the first quarter of 2026, foreign arrivals reached 1.67 million, up 3.2% compared with the previous year. INSTAT said 97% of foreign visitors entered for personal reasons, including tourism and family visits.
In addition, business and professional travel recorded a slight increase of 0.2%. Authorities said the trend shows a strengthening of Albania’s position as a year-round tourism destination.
