Tourists from around the world in Apollonia

TIRANA, May 21 – Apollonia, one of the largest archaeological parks in the country, receives a high number of visitors of different nationalities every year.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on social media today images of numerous tourists and visitors who have chosen to visit this ancient city. In these posts, history, culture, and Albanian hospitality are highlighted as meeting points.

The Archaeological Park of Apollonia is located in the southwest of Fier. Visitors to the park can see the ancient city of Apollonia and its monuments. They can also visit other artefacts displayed in the museum inside the park. This archaeological museum is among the richest in the country. It contains unique objects not only for Albania but also beyond.

Apollonia of Fier is one of the largest sites in the country and also one of the largest ancient cities in the classical world. As one of 27 Apollonias in the Mediterranean basin, it is considered a valuable part of Albania’s archaeological heritage.

Archaeologists refer to Apollonia as the “Pompeii of Albania.” Only 10 percent of the ancient city’s territory has been excavated so far.
