TIRANA, August 5 – The Albanian Road Authority announced a temporary traffic closure on the Tirana-Durrës road during the nights of August 6 and 7, 2026, as part of the second phase of expansion works on the main road corridor. The closure will be in force from 00:00 to 04:30, while crews will install metal beams for the new Kashar overpass.
The Albanian Road Authority said the works require the closure of the two main lanes in the Durrës-Tirana direction to ensure road safety. Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from Durrës towards Tirana, Tirana International Airport “Mother Teresa” and Kosova will use the ramps of the Thumana-Kashar motorway as an alternative route.
Vehicles heading to the airport and Kosova will continue through the Kashar-Thumanë motorway. Cars travelling towards Tirana will follow temporary road signs and use secondary roads before returning to the Durrës-Tirana motorway after the Kashar overpass. The Albanian Road Authority asked drivers, businesses and residents in the area for understanding during the temporary intervention.
