Traffic Police: 16 Drivers Prosecuted and Over 15,000 Fines in One Week

The Traffic Police have published their weekly report, highlighting a number of violations and criminal offenses identified and addressed.

During this period, 33 criminal incidents were recorded. Of these, 16 drivers were prosecuted while remaining at liberty for “Violations of road traffic rules.”

Additionally, 9 drivers were prosecuted for “Driving under the influence,” of whom 8 were arrested and 1 was prosecuted while at liberty.

Regarding driving without a license, 7 drivers were prosecuted, including 3 who were arrested and 4 who were prosecuted while at liberty.

Meanwhile, 3 drivers were prosecuted for “Leaving the scene of an accident,” while 1 driver was prosecuted for “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions.”

As for administrative measures, a total of 15,534 fines were issued. The majority of them—11,164 penalties—were for improper parking. Furthermore, 347 fines were issued for using a mobile phone while driving, 1,345 for not wearing a protective helmet, and 282 for not using a seatbelt.

As part of enforcement checks, a total of 33 vehicles were impounded. Of these, 18 were removed for improper parking using tow trucks, 9 for lack of documentation, 1 for unpaid fines, 2 for verification with foreign license plates, and 3 were seized as material evidence.
