Traffic resumes in Llogara Tunnel after accident

Traffic has resumed in the Llogara Tunnel after a temporary closure caused by a collision between two vehicles. The Albanian Road Authority said police, ambulance, and firefighters arrived quickly and managed the situation. Authorities reopened the tunnel shortly after clearing the scene.

The Llogara Tunnel includes a main tunnel and an emergency tunnel. Eleven connecting passages link them along the entire length. The tunnel runs about one kilometer below the surface. The speed limit is around 80 km/h.

The project significantly reduces travel time. The Dukat–Palasë route now takes about 7–8 minutes instead of 40–45 minutes. The Vlora–Palasë trip has dropped from about one hour to around 20 minutes.
