A devastating tragedy has shaken the Albanian community in Jacksonville, Florida, where three children lost their lives and four other people were seriously injured after a massive fire engulfed a two-story home.
Relatives of the family, who arrived at the scene following the incident, confirmed that the family is of Albanian origin.
According to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) Chief Percy Golden, the fire was reported at around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26. Emergency crews arrived within minutes but were confronted with intense flames on the first floor and heavy smoke that had spread throughout the second floor.
A neighbor told local media that several bystanders helped rescue an infant and an adult from the home. They were forced to jump from a second-floor window to escape the flames.
By the time firefighters arrived at the scene, two adults and two children had managed to escape the house. Rescue crews then entered the burning building to search for others who might still be inside.
During the search, firefighters found three children dead, all of them boys. Authorities have not yet released their ages.
