Transparency Board Lowers Fuel Prices Again, Diesel Drops to 207 Lek per Liter

The Transparency Board has published the new fuel prices.

Starting from 13:30 today, diesel will be sold at retail for 207 ALL per liter, while gasoline will be sold at no more than 174 ALL per liter.

Full statement:

At its meeting on April 15, 2026, the Transparency Board decided:

  • The retail selling price of gasoil (diesel) of standard SSH EN 590 shall be no more than 207 ALL/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 195 ALL/liter.
  • The retail selling price of gasoline of SSH EN standard shall be no more than 174 ALL/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 162 ALL/liter.

The prices set by the Board enter into force today, April 15, at 13:30 and will remain valid until the next Board meeting, where changes in selling prices will be reviewed.

All wholesale and retail operators of petroleum products are reminded of their obligation to implement this decision. In cases of violations identified among operators, activity suspension measures will be imposed.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and ensuring the principles of fair competition in the market.

Clarification:
According to Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012 ‘On Excise in the Republic of Albania,’” it is stipulated that if the retail price of diesel exceeds 220 ALL/liter, or gasoline exceeds 200 ALL/liter, an 80% excise level is applied. Based on the methodology for calculating retail price caps, current prices are below these thresholds, and therefore the full excise rate of 100% will be applied.
