Transparency Board sets new fuel price caps

Albania’s Transparency Board has set new fuel price caps, effective from 14:00 on October 13. Diesel may cost no more than ALL 219 per litre at retail and ALL 207 per litre at wholesale. Petrol prices may not exceed ALL 196 per litre at retail and ALL 184 per litre at wholesale.

The caps will remain in force until the board’s next meeting. Members will review them in line with changes in selling prices. The board met under the government’s decision to declare a special situation in the hydrocarbon market and the legal framework governing petroleum products.

Meanwhile, the board has reminded wholesale and retail fuel operators to comply with the caps. Authorities may suspend the activity of operators who violate the rules. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy said they were committed to protecting consumers and maintaining fair competition.
