Albania has transformed into one of Europe’s fastest-growing tourist destinations. The country has also earned a strong place on the global tourism map.
According to UN Tourism, Albania ranks among the world’s busiest tourist destinations when measured by visitors per resident.
This ranking compares annual tourist arrivals with the local population, rather than total visitor numbers. Smaller countries often record far more tourists than residents.
Albania welcomes nearly five tourists for every resident, placing sixth among the countries surveyed. It ranks ahead of famous holiday destinations such as the Maldives, the Bahamas, Seychelles, and Barbados. It also outperforms regional neighbors Croatia and Montenegro.
