US Embassy Warns Citizens Again: Violent Protest Could Spread

The US Embassy in Tirana has issued another warning following clashes on Wednesday afternoon during a protest that began on Durrës Street before moving towards the Prime Minister’s Office.

In a message addressed to American citizens in Tirana, the embassy warned that the protest had turned violent and could spread to nearby government buildings.

“A protest on Durrës Street, adjacent to Skanderbeg Square, is currently ongoing and has turned violent due to stone-throwing. The protest may expand to nearby government blocks and buildings, potentially resulting in an increased police presence, traffic disruptions, diversions and road closures. Embassy personnel in Tirana have been advised to avoid demonstrations.

Please remain vigilant and prioritise your personal safety. Monitor local media and follow instructions from local law enforcement authorities for the latest updates,” the US Embassy said in its statement.
