The United States expects Kosovo to take concrete steps to create the conditions needed to resume the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
The US Embassy in Pristina said the process depends on establishing appropriate conditions and ensuring that Kosovo’s institutions are fully functional. Washington also highlighted the importance of Kosovo fulfilling its commitments toward the Serbian community.
The embassy said the US and Kosovo have significant potential to expand cooperation in areas such as energy, cybersecurity, defense, infrastructure and technology.
However, US officials recalled that Washington suspended the US–Kosovo Strategic Dialogue indefinitely in September 2025 due to concerns over actions taken by the caretaker government.
The embassy emphasized that deeper cooperation requires fully established and operational institutions, as well as concrete steps from Kosovo to advance shared goals of peace, stability and economic development.
The United States also called on Kosovo to continue implementing commitments related to Kosovo Serbs as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and regional stability.
