Vengu welcomes Britain’s special envoy for the Western Balkans

Minister of Defense Mr. Pirro Vengu received in a special meeting the special envoy of the United Kingdom in the Western Balkans, Lord Stuart Peach, who came to Albania, as part of the Joint Exercise “Austere Wolf – 24”.

Minister Vengu and Lord Stuart Peach highly appreciated the interaction between the Albanian and British troops in the “Corridor VIII Response” exercise.

During the conversation with the senior British official, the Minister of Defense Mr. Pirro Vengu discussed the security situation in the region, including the North of Kosovo, for which Albania not only welcomes the Alliance’s decision to increase troops there, but also increased the presence of Albanian soldiers in the KFOR mission. According to the Minister of Defense: “… as a NATO member country, the privileged geographical position of our country commits us to invest further in the supporting infrastructure for the Alliance”. Minister Vengu emphasized during the conversation with the senior British official that:

“In Corridor VIII, intensive work is being done on several lots, to continue with the major port project in Porto Romano, a part of which will be dedicated for military use “.

Likewise, Minister Vengu introduced Lord Peach to the steps that Albania has taken to revive the Military Industry, inviting any British agency or company for investment and cooperation.
