Vespa Fans from 17 Countries Gather in Durrës for Anniversary Event

Vespa enthusiasts from 17 countries gather in Durrës to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Vespa Albania” club.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shares images from the event on social media and highlights the international gathering.

Around 400 Vespa fans join the celebration, arriving from Albania, Europe, and other parts of the world.

Participants turn the coastal city into a vibrant parade of color and sound, as they ride iconic Vespa models through main boulevards and the seaside promenade.

Organizers host musical performances and symbolic stops at historical sites in Durrës, combining celebration with cultural and tourism promotion.

The event promotes urban culture and strengthens Durrës as a destination for international gatherings.

Vespa originated in 1946 in Italy, when Piaggio introduced the first model as an affordable and practical transport solution after World War II.

Designer Corradino D’Ascanio created the scooter with an innovative monocoque structure and user-friendly design.

The name “Vespa,” meaning “wasp,” reflects the sound of the engine and the scooter’s shape.

Over decades, Vespa evolves into a global symbol of Italian style and urban culture, closely linked to youth movements and 1950s–60s cinema.
