Virtuoso Tedi Papavrami receives high state honor in Albania

Prime Minister Edi Rama awarded renowned violinist and musician Tedi Papavrami with the “Star of the Officer of the Supreme Order of the Eagle” on behalf of the President of the Republic.

The ceremony took place at Eden Park inside the Prime Minister’s Office.

Rama described Papavrami as “a shining star in the constellation of European Albania.” He praised him not only as a musician, but also as a translator, creator, actor and intellectual voice.

“This honor belongs to Tedi, the Albanian of Europe and the world,” Rama said.

He highlighted Papavrami’s international artistic journey and his deep connection to Albania despite building a global career abroad.

Rama thanked Papavrami for representing Albania in Europe at a time when Albanians faced prejudice and isolation.

“Thank you for going to Europe as a proud Albanian when Europe viewed Albanians differently,” Rama said.

The prime minister also praised Papavrami’s intellectual engagement, modesty and humanity, calling him “an example of dignity and perseverance.”

During the ceremony, attended by friends, family members and admirers of his work, Rama presented the decoration with the official motivation honoring Papavrami’s outstanding contribution to the arts and the international promotion of Albanian culture.

The citation recognized Tedi Papavrami as one of the most talented and accomplished instrumentalists of his generation, whose performances have marked prestigious concert halls and audiences in Albania and around the world.
