Visit to Washington: Finance Minister Malaj Meets U.S. Under Secretary for Economic Affairs

Finance Minister Petrit Malaj, during an official visit to Washington, held a meeting at the U.S. Department of State with Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary for Economic Affairs.

The visit took place במסגרת the annual meetings of the Albanian delegation with leaders of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of mutual interest, with a focus on increasing U.S. investments in Albania, the energy sector—not only from an economic perspective but also in terms of national security—as well as regional developments.

Under Secretary Helberg praised Albania’s role, emphasizing that the country remains an important partner of the United States in the Western Balkans.

For his part, Minister Malaj reaffirmed the Albanian government’s commitment to creating a favorable climate for foreign investors, highlighting economic stability, growth, and the continuation of reforms.

At the conclusion of the meeting, global challenges and Albania’s commitment alongside its strategic partners were also discussed.
