European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that 63 schools in Albania have been rebuilt or renovated through the “EU for Schools” programme.
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, she recalled the European Union’s support following the 2019 earthquake and stressed that the schools programme was part of that assistance.
“These roadmaps will turn the path towards membership into concrete steps. Dear Edi, tomorrow morning we will have the pleasure of visiting Emin Duraku School. In 2019, when Albania was struck by the earthquake, and I remember those terrible days, we said that Europe would stand by your side. And we did stand by your side.
The EU for Schools programme is one that I particularly appreciate. Through this programme, 63 schools were rebuilt or renovated, including Emin Duraku School. I am very much looking forward to tomorrow’s visit,” von der Leyen said.
