European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the fight against corruption and organized crime remains central to Albania’s EU integration process.
At a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, von der Leyen said investigations into senior officials show that Albania’s justice system is working.
“The fight against corruption and organized crime is key. It stands at the heart of our work. When we see cases under investigation, they show that the system is working,” she said.
Furthermore, von der Leyen said these investigations demonstrate the strengthening of Albania’s justice system.
“This is the strengthening of the justice system that we are seeing,” the European Commission president said.
