Vučić’s Strong Statement: “They Tell Me My Mother Cheated on My Father with an Albanian”

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, made a strong statement during the podcast The Rest Is Politics: Leading, where he spoke about what he described as serious personal attacks and slander against him.

In part of the discussion, Vučić stated:

“Can you understand the argument when someone is casting a curse against you? Even adding that your father is actually not your father, because your mother was unfaithful and cheated on your supposed father with an Albanian—and that is why you are so pro-Albanian.”

His statement contains offensive language and unverified personal accusations, including references to Albanians, making it particularly sensitive in the context of regional relations in the Balkans.

In his remarks, Vučić suggested that political opponents use extreme narratives to discredit him, including attacks on his family background and ethnic origins.

The statement is expected to provoke strong reactions in public opinion and at the diplomatic level, given the high sensitivity of ethnic issues in the region.
