Seven wildfires remain active across Albania, while two others are under surveillance. According to the Ministry of Defense, a total of 10 wildfires had been reported by 2:00 p.m. on August 28, one of which has been completely extinguished.
The active fires are concentrated in Tirana, Dibër, Vlorë, Gjirokastër and Korçë, while emergency services continue their operations on the ground.
Three fires have reignited on Mount Dajti, where 25 firefighters and personnel from the National Agency of Protected Areas are working to bring the flames under control.
The most concentrated wildfire situation is in the Dibër region, where fires remain active in Qafë e Helmës, Vajkal and Sllatinë. In Vajkal, 53 personnel have been deployed, including 20 members of the Armed Forces, along with an Armed Forces helicopter.
More than 40 municipal personnel and volunteers are operating in Sllatinë. According to authorities, these fires currently pose no threat to residential areas.
In Tërbaç, Himarë, firefighting operations are underway with two fire engines and their respective crews.
Active fires have also been reported in Tërbuq, Gjirokastër, where three firefighters and one fire engine have been deployed, as well as in Plovisht, Maliq, where three firefighters are operating with one fire engine.
Meanwhile, the fires on Mount Dardhë and Mount Qukës are under surveillance and, according to the Ministry of Defense, pose no threat to residential areas.
To support local emergency services, 20 members of the Armed Forces and one helicopter have been deployed in firefighting operations, with the main focus on the fire in Vajkal.
The situation continues to be monitored, while Civil Protection structures and teams on the ground are working to fully extinguish the fires and prevent them from reigniting.
