TIRANA, September 2 – Tourism has the greatest potential for creating new jobs in Albania, according to the World Bank. A more diverse tourism offer could also spread employment opportunities beyond the summer season.
The assessment comes from the World Bank’s FY 2026 Albania Country Opinion Survey Report, based on responses from 219 representatives of institutions, businesses and civil society. Agriculture and agri-processing also stand out, alongside information technology and digital services, renewable energy, green infrastructure, construction and light industry.
The report sees room for growth in agritourism, cultural and historical tourism and adventure travel. Developing these areas could extend the tourist season and bring more jobs to different parts of the country.
Agriculture and agro-processing could create opportunities in processing, exports, storage and packaging, particularly outside the main urban centres. Digital services, meanwhile, are seen as a source of skilled employment and export-oriented growth.
When asked about development priorities, 49% of respondents selected agriculture and food security. Education followed with 47%, while healthcare was chosen by 36%. Jobs and digital infrastructure were selected by 34% and 32%, respectively.
