Albania is preparing its tax declaration and registration systems. The goal is to link them with European systems.
Deputy Finance Minister Endrit Yzeiraj spoke to the media. He said the aim is for Albania to join the European tax registry.
He explained, “Digital systems used by the General Tax Directorate must communicate with European systems. In the future, they will become part of the European digital system. Our revenues and indicators must match those of other countries.”
The process also affects customs. Yzeiraj said the main legislation to align is the Customs Code. He added that it is mostly aligned but still has gaps. These must be filled, especially in systems, under Chapter 29.
He also described key projects. One is the National Single Window. Fourteen institutions, including AKU and various inspectorates, issue licenses for importers and exporters. Soon, companies will use a single point for applications instead of 14.
Another project is the national transit system. It will monitor electronically all companies transporting goods through Albania. The system will cover transit shipments as well.
