Specialists from the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (IKTK) inspected Zoto Bridge in Vithkuq, Korçë, as part of ongoing efforts to monitor and protect cultural monuments.
The first-category cultural monument faces several conservation challenges, including the impact of natural factors. IKTK said it remains committed to preserving the bridge’s authenticity, historical value and architectural features for future generations.
Located about 300 metres from the centre of Vithkuq, Zoto Bridge represents one of the area’s most important heritage sites. Authorities declared it a cultural monument in November 1984 under the “Architecture” category.
Built in the 19th century, the stone bridge reflects traditional construction skills. The structure stretches 30 metres long and 3 metres wide. It features a main arch, along with a smaller inner arch that adds to its unique design.
Moreover, the bridge has become an attractive stop for visitors exploring Vithkuq, a village known for its natural landscapes, history and rich cultural heritage.
Today, Zoto Bridge offers visitors a chance to discover an important part of Korçë’s cultural identity, where traditional architecture blends with the surrounding natural environment.
