5 active fires and 3 under control, 382 personnel on the ground

TIRANA, August 20 – Albania’s Ministry of Defence reported 35 fires across the country over the past 24 hours. Five remain active, while authorities have placed 3 under control. A total of 382 operational personnel and 40 fire engines are working across the affected areas. The Armed Forces are supporting the response with 90 personnel and 3 Air Force helicopters.

On Mount Dajti in Tirana, 30 Armed Forces personnel continue efforts to extinguish the fire. Authorities report no risk to populated areas. Meanwhile, teams have brought the fire in Priska under control. In Lufaj, Mirdita, the fire remains active at low intensity. Operational forces continue their work there, with no reported risk to populated areas.

In Puka, conditions have improved in the forest areas of Mount Tërbun. However, fires remain active in Gjegjan and Gojan. During the operation, authorities evacuated one family. Forces on the ground prevented the fire from reaching the home. Today, 40 Armed Forces personnel and 2 helicopters are supporting the operation.

Elsewhere, teams continue work in Gjorm i Sipërm, Malësi e Madhe, and Tunjë e Re, Gramsh. Lura National Park remains under control after authorities extinguished the fire. At the same time, operational forces continue work in Qafë-Helmes, with no reported risk to populated areas. The National Civil Protection Agency continues to monitor the situation nationwide.
