Albania inflation rises to 2.9% in September, driven by transport and food

Albania’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.9% in September 2026, up from 2.4% in the same month last year. Consumer prices also increased by 0.4% from August.

According to Consumer Price Index data published on October 8, food and non-alcoholic beverages made the largest contribution to annual inflation. They accounted for 0.96 percentage points of the increase. Transport followed with 0.81 percentage points.

Meanwhile, transport recorded the highest annual price increase among the main groups, at 12.4%. Entertainment, sport and culture followed with 5.9%. Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose by 2.8%, while clothing and footwear prices fell by 3.1%.
